HOW TO GET A SUITE DEAL ON BUSINESS CLASS AIR WITH YOUR VIKING RIVER CRUISE

So you are planning your next Viking River Cruise and considering upgrading from Viking’s included economy class air to business air for its additional amenities and legroom. But when you price out the business air upgrade you find the cost too prohibitive.  Did you know that travel agents such as myself and a few others have a little-known work-around for this?

You Won’t Know If You Don’t Ask

Many times, when booking a cruise with Viking, it would be wise to inquire as to what air promotions are connected to cabin assignments.

Many travelers would prefer business class air when using Viking Air Services, but most are discouraged from doing so due to its high costs.

However, Viking has a little known business air booking hack, when combined with a suite cabin, results in a substantial discount for the savvy traveler, not to mention the added benefits of having a suite . I have found that, in many cases, the overall costs for business class air with a suite, is markedly less than with a regular veranda room with business class air.

How could this be so? First of all a suite includes air plus, costing as much as $150 a person, which permits you to customize your air. Also, Viking seems to run an unadvertised promotion, when included with a suite, provides a generous discount for business class air.

Sometime More Is Less

For example I had recently quoted a client on the Viking River Cruise Portugal’s Rivers of Gold.  I found that by moving them from a veranda class cabin to a suite, but keeping the business class upgrade, I was able to reduce the overall price.

And the difference was substantial! This is not to mention the more desirable suite spacial arrangement with its private bedroom area, additional overall space and added amenities such as earlier booking of shore excursions.

Take a look at the two bookings below, both with business air. The only difference between the two is one is a veranda and the other is a suite.

Veranda Cabin With Business Air 

Cost Per Person is $10,097.00

AB Veranda Suite With Business Air 

Cost Per Person is $8498.00

As can be seen, this is a substantial savings, even before including, the free custom air, provided with Viking’s suite promotion. This overall veranda to suite with business class air deal, mainly comes into play, on Viking river cruise sailings, where the price difference between a veranda and a suite, are not substantial.

If this cabin upgrade, from a veranda cabin to a suite, on a Viking River Cruise, is such a better deal, then why is it that many average consumers are uninformed of such? Not only are you getting a free suite upgrade but money back, so why doesn’t everyone know about this?

For one, this is not an advertised promotion and perhaps this is something that may not always be pointed out by the agent that is handling the reservation. However, for those who are either in the know or work with agents like myself who take the time to separate the wheat from the chaff, the rewards can be substantial.
